Internet video giant iQiyi announced its new content and marketing strategies on Tuesday in Shanghai.

Gong Yu, founder and CEO of the company, stressed the importance of innovation and creativity in science, technology and content production. He explained that AI and 5G technologies will broaden the technical boundaries of video production and marketing.

Around 20 billion yuan (US$2.8 billion) will be invested into content production, including variety shows, sports programs, movies, dramas, documentaries and animation.

An array of original productions will be created for audiences of different ages and cultural backgrounds.

The company's variety shows will focus on music, teenage life and new fashion trends, and mainly cater to the tastes of young viewers.

There will also be dramatic shows exploring the lives of urban people. Documentaries on Chinese history and culture will be produced as well.
