For Shanghai-based heavy equipment manufacturer ZPMC, getting one of its quay cranes that served in an overseas port back to China would have been a huge problem in the recent past.

Because such equipment belongs to the used mechanical and electrical products category, it was banned from being imported to China.

But thanks to a new policy issued by Shanghai Customs, the obstacle has been cleared as long as the products meet certain requirements. This is just one example showing Shanghai Customs' efforts in recent years to make it easier for companies to do international trade.
