Fast statistics of Lianghui: city's achievements and goals in people's livelihoods
City residents have more disposable income and better housing comparing with the year before while senior people and children will get more care in the new year.
Housing
The government has completed the renovation of 553,000 square meters of dilapidated housing in downtown districts for 29,000 households, retrofitting 11.84 million square meters of old homes.
The city renovated and preserved 1.04 million square meters of traditional Chinese terraced houses, and added 63,000 subsidized housing units.
In 2020, the government will complete the overhaul of 550,000 square meters of rundown homes in downtown districts for 28,000 households while retrofitting old residences, refurbishing and preserving terraced houses and increasing the supply of subsidized housing by 60,000 units.
Senior care
Shanghai has added 83 day care centers, 7,202 beds, and 217 community dining areas for the elderly, and renovated 1,485 beds for seniors with cognitive impairment. Long-term care insurance schemes have benefited 493,000 seniors.
In 2020, the city will build 50 day care centers along with 200 canteens for the elderly. It will also install 7,000 senior-care beds and upgrade 2,000 beds for those with cognitive impairment.
Child care
The government opened 231 nurseries and 37 kindergartens and set up 556 day care classes during the summer vacation in 2019.
In 2020, it will build an additional 50 child care centers and open 600 day care classes for primary school students during the summer vacation.
Job training
The city has completed subsidized vocational skills training for 1.007 million people and helped 8,698 long-term unemployed youth find jobs or start businesses.
This year, 1 million employees will receive subsidized vocational training.
