Shanghai and Taizhou sign tourism agreement
Travel agencies in Shanghai and Taizhou sign cooperation agreements in Shanghai.
Seventy-five A-level tourist attractions in Taizhou in neighboring Zhejiang Province, are offering free admission to tourists to revitalize the market, the city's cultural and tourism authorities announced in Shanghai over the weekend.
Shenxianju — a 5A-level (China's top grade) national tourist attraction featuring hills, creeks, waterfalls and mountain roads -— and Tiantai Mountain scenic area, another 5A national tourist attraction featuring waterfalls and cliffs, are on the list.
The free offer will last till April 30, Taizhou Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau announced in Shanghai.
Among the other plans, a single pass will allow tourists to visit attractions in Taizhou without reservations in May, and incentives like discounted packages covering minsu (B&B) clusters in the city will be offered, the bureau said.
About 300 million yuan cultural and tourism-related discounts or free admission will be offered throughout the year.
Taizhou authorities signed cooperation agreements with Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions and Shanghai online tourism operator Lvmama.com to promote the city in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Eight new itineraries were also unveiled in Shanghai. Taizhou received 130 million visits from tourists both at home and abroad last year, drawing in 147 billion yuan (US$21 billion) in revenue, a rise of 13 percent up from a year earlier. The city boasts 17 5-A and 4-A tourist attractions, three wetland parks and four scenic areas.
