Twenty-three projects are signed during the Qingdao-Shanghai modern service industry development exchange and cooperation conference.

Twenty-three projects with a combined investment of 35.6 billion yuan (US$5.07 billion) were signed on Wednesday during the Qingdao-Shanghai modern service industry development exchange and cooperation conference in the Pudong New Area.

The projects cover a wide range of areas such as culture and innovation, new economy and new infrastructure construction, finance and equity investment, new retail, Internet industry headquarters, trade and logistics.

The Shanghai Services Federation and Qingdao City Services Federation signed a strategic cooperation agreement and will promote the development of the service industry under the deal.

Shanghai-based Bailian Group signed an agreement on the Qingdao Bailian outlet plaza project with Qingdao’s Jimo District in east China’s Shandong Province, and online food supplier Freshippo (China) signed an agreement on its headquarters project with the city’s Laoshan District.

Shanghai-registered DeepBlue Technology agreed a deal with Huangdao District in Qingdao concerning a biological intelligence and computer vision research institute project in the district.

“The modern service industry reflects international competitiveness and is of great significance in promoting industrial upgrading and raising industrial added value," said Chen Zhenhong, executive vice director of the Shanghai Services Federation.

"Shanghai and Qingdao share many similarities as coastal cities, and they share the same vision to develop a modern service industry with a highlight of finance and trade and have huge cooperation potential in the field," he said.

Wang Qingxian, Qingdao’s Party secretary, attended the event.
