Hark Tsui’s “Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings” held grand global premiere and red carpet show in Suzhou on Sunday. The film is slated for national release on July 27.

Starring Mark Chao, Lin Gengxin and Carina Lau, the martial arts film centers on the new challenge of Detective Dee. He is forced to defend himself against the accusations of Empress Wu while investigating a mysterious crime case. 

It is the third installment of the Detective Dee film series. According to director Tsui, the film will offer impelling visuals and a creative story.

Taiwan actor Mark Chao plays the leading role of Detective Dee. Chao said that he has to present more in-depth portrayal of Dee who also has fragile moments to deal with the new challenges.
