Team World triumphs
Team World became the champions of 2018 Shanghai International Legend Stars Tournament.
A penalty from former France international Djibril Cisse gave Team World a 1-0 victory over Team Spain in the final of the 2018 Shanghai International Legend Stars Tournament which was held at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center over the weekend.
The six-to-six tournament gathered retired football legends from home and abroad, representing six teams — China, Portugal, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Team World (mixed nationalities).
Team China, which was represented by former national players like Fan Zhiyi, Yang Chen, Shao Jiayi, and Li Tie, drew with Germany and lost to Spain on Saturday. It was defeated 3-8 by Team Portugal in yesterday’s third-place match at the two-day tournament. In the final, goalie Stipe Pletikosa made more than 10 saves to give Team World a clean sheet in the 40-minute match.
