Training base for high-level technicians
A VOCATIONAL skills training base for high-level technicians has been a major presence in the Jiading Industrial Zone. It’s a first such training base in Jiading.
Last December, the base was included in the seventh batch of high-level talent training bases in Shanghai, making it the first municipal high-level talent training center in the suburban district.
The training base has six core functions, including the development of new projects, technical skill competition and selection of high-skill talents.
Presently the base has 27 instructors, who are either teachers from colleges or experts from enterprises.
In 2015 the Jiading Industrial Zone selected a batch of senior technicians from companies in the zone to be lecturers and set up a training center for technicians and engineers.
“Every class was packed,” Zhu Shisheng, a senior technician of Continental Automotive Systems (Shanghai) Co Ltd, said. Zhu is the PLC programming course instructor at the base.
“According to tradition, all vocational training programs need to refer to the Shanghai Vocational Skill Training Catalogue. But the training projects in the catalogue can hardly meet market demand, especially in advanced manufacturing,” a leader of the Labor Security Service Center at the zone said.
At the beginning of the year, Nari Sheng (Shanghai) Industrial Co hired a batch of industrial robot operators, who, however, failed the job requirements. The base developed a pilot program on industrial robot programming and debugging according to the needs of the company.
The program was outsourced to a third party and it has since passed evaluation by the Shanghai Vocational Skill Verification Center. Training was expected to start later this year.
