Shaky knees, but what a lessonVanessa

IN the past few years I signed up for production every time because the experience is unforgettable. It has helped me to work better in teams, making me more patient and boosted my expression and passion for acting.

My first audition was when I was in Year 3, my knees were shaking. When I looked at my friend, I knew I couldn’t let her down. I spoke my line and I felt like I was set free. When my acting teacher was reading out the casting names, I was worried I wouldn’t get a part. I did, but I told myself, it’s not about the lines, it’s about the emotion and actions. After that, I learnt to not worry and just be myself. During the first rehearsal, I felt a thrill of excitement, and by the end of the day, my energy was drained. You really do need a lot of energy and enthusiasm to make it work. Finally, it was the night of my first performance, I looked out at the audience, and I imagined myself on the ocean calling out to the waves (audience).

That night was one of the best in my life and through that, I now understand the importance of reaching out and taking the opportunity because I might not ever get it again. You also need a lot of preparation for this grueling task. You need to memorize your lines, learn your partner’s line, give eye contact, and I think that all of these have helped me look out for all of my friends. Tell yourself, not just before performing, but any daunting task, you can do it and anything can be achieved.
