The inaugural Changning International Half Marathon was held in Changning District yesterday, featuring 4,800 runners — 4,500 in the 21-kilometer half marathon and 300 in the 3K health run. Apart from some 20 elite runners invited from abroad, the organizers also welcomed about 90 foreigners working at foreign consulates in the district. Difas Kibet of Uganda won the men’s half marathon clocking 1 hour, 4 minutes and 11 seconds. He was followed by Kenyan duo Robert Wambua Mbithi (1:04.20) and David Kipruto Ngetich (1:05.56). The women’s title went to Kenya’s Serser Alice Cherotich Milgo (1:13.40), who was followed by China’s Zheng Zhiling (1:13.42) and Li Zhixuan (1:13:45). The top 400 male and top 200 female finishers will get spots at the 2018 Shanghai International Half Marathon.
