Designer’s vision sheds new light on Italian city
FOLLOWING the success of the Armani Hotel Dubai in Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, the Armani Hotel Milano is the second hotel launched within the Armani Hotels & Resorts project, reflecting world-famous designer Giorgio Armani’s personal aesthetic vision within a precisely defined ambience of total comfort.
Located in the heart of the city, it is situated within the extraordinary palazzo at Via Manzoni 31, originally designed by Enrico Griffini and completed in 1937 in the rationalist style of the time.
Inside this building, with its austere and powerful exterior, Armani has created a world of harmony and privacy, with uncompromising attention to guests’ requirements. Luxury, calm and beauty are fostered in pure Armani style, imparting a new aesthetic excellence to the concept of comfort.
“I have concentrated all my efforts on delivering my personal aesthetic vision within a precisely defined ambience of total comfort,” Armani said. “I like the views of Milan it affords from the upper levels of the hotel. It’s easy to forget how green this city is, but from the hotel you see that behind the somewhat austere facade of Milan are hidden many lovely gardens.”
Spaces flow one into another, united by fluid lines and an understated, sophisticated palette.
“Whether I design a dress or an element of interior design, I always focus on the same principles: simple, elegant lines, the use of the best-quality materials and Italian know-how in the planning stage. Both fashion and interior design share a common idea, a meticulous work on shapes, fabrics, proportions, and the ability to combine in equal parts beauty, comfort and functionality,” Armani said.
The materials used are all selected to fit with the overall look and feel of the space. Italy has a great tradition of working with marble. The hotel is also housed in a 1937 building designed by Griffin, so marble fits perfectly with the heritage and style of the structure.
The Armani style and philosophy defines every detail of the 95 guest rooms and suites. Each element has been designed by Armani and chosen for its sculptural, aesthetic and sensual qualities.
The rooms embody the hallmarks of the Armani brand — elegance, comfort and sophistication — and provide amenities specially tailored for the convenience of guests.
“A key element of this approach is the decision to give every room a small vestibule that creates an intervening space before the intimacy of the bedroom is revealed,” he said.
The 95 rooms and suites offer a variety of options. From deluxe rooms (up to 44 square meters) to signature suites (from 190 to 203 square meters) on two levels connected by a magnificent stairway that makes a striking architectural impact.
Mini bars, high-tech amenities, cupboards that vanish into the walls — referencing the passion for order and sense of space pushed by Armani over many years in his own homes — create an atmosphere of warmth and restraint within a commodious setting.
The dining venues in Armani Hotel Milano, with their floor-to-ceiling windows, give a breathtaking view of the city. The designer has managed to bring the beauty of the city into the interior at every possible opportunity.
Overlooking the skyline, the Armani/Bamboo Bar is one of the favorite spots in town for aperitifs and social gatherings.
The double volume ceiling, louvered window wall and backlit onyx features create a perfect ambience during an informal lunch or simply for watching the world go by.
