The Shanghai track is popular among drivers because it features many places for overtaking and boasts one of the longest straights on the F1 calendar. More importantly, it allows both fans and drivers to get up-close, with Lewis Hamilton in particular known to be out looking for a quick selfie with his supporters. Over the past 15 years, fans have made it a point to show off their true “colors” and are generally vocal in their support of teams and drivers.
