A video of a piano solo performed by Chinese pianist Wu Yili was widely shared on social media recently.

Though Wu's 87-year-old now, her play on the stage was still perfect and delicate. Under her flexible fingers, the euphonious melody of China’s classic music "Butterfly Lovers" was presented flawlessly.

Chinese netizens were deeply touched by her decent performance.

One netizen said, "It seems that Wu suffers from mild Parkinson's but music has the magic of cure. She played a really flowing melody on the piano. Yes, this is the art!" Another said, “Applaud for the elderly artist!”

Wu is one of the first generation of Chinese pianists and has pursued a music career for the past eight decades.

She began learning the piano at the age of 6 and became a famous pianist in Shanghai at the age of 18. She studied under Mario Paci, a well-known Italian musician and was awarded national first-class pianist in 1962.

For Wu, the piano is not only a musical instrument but also a platform to express her feelings for her motherland. She intensively studied Chinese musical works and had her unique expressiveness in music.

She was the first one to play the piano part of the violin concerto "Butterfly Lovers."
