Popular Taiwan singer Jay Chou has released a video to say sorry for shouting at a “security guard” and ordered him to leave his concert in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, on April 30.

The incident happened when Chou noticed a “security guard” throwing away his fan's lightboard.

The pop icon said on the stage, "Return the lightboard to her. The cop, hello. Don't throw away my fan's lightboard, do you hear me? You are here to control order, why are you throwing away her lightboard? Get out of here!”

After the concert, Chou learnt that the fan had raised her board so high that it blocked the view of those behind her. So the “security guard” stepped in to help the comfort of other members in the audience.

Chou immediately posted a statement on Weibo to express his sincere apology to the “security guard.”

Those who maintained the order during the concert included local police officers and staff from a security company. The identity of the person Chou yelled at was not confirmed.

Before he left Xi'an on May 1, he also released a video to say sorry again.

In the video, Chou first thanked all the security staff at the concert for their hard work as they had sacrificed their holiday to maintain order and security at the venue.

Apologizing for his April 30 outburst, Chou said he should not have acted impulsively, adding he hoped future concerts would be orderly and fun-filled.

CCTV News said in a commentary that the singer should not have spoken so harshly and emotionally before learning the facts. But it praised him for his swift apology, saying it was a mark of his character.

A good idol doesn't mean he never makes mistake, but apologizes in a timely fashion when they do, the commentary said.
