Chinese tech giant Tencent has launched a smart building operating system in Suzhou, eastern China's Jiangsu Province, to explore research and application of digital architecture.

The system, launched on Sunday, will provide a technological, industrial and innovative hub that concentrates on the research, testing, demonstration and industrialization of smart buildings. It aims to achieve an output value of 1 billion yuan (US$150 million).

"We will strive to build the system as a benchmark in industrial research and application," said Shen Lei, a local official.

The system is operated by Tencent Cloud IoT Hub, which aims to provide a secure, stable and efficient connection platform to help developers achieve reliable, high-concurrency data communication among devices, user applications and cloud services at a low cost. It can be applied in scenarios such as smart cities, smart energy and smart homes.
