Video-streaming provider Youku is producing a new original variety show “Go! Streamers” to foster celebrity livestreamers.

The show will see 25 female entertainment celebrities, including actresses Ada Choi, Huang Yi and Michelle Ye, make crossover attempts at livestreaming.

They will compete to cultivate their own followers from recommendations in the show, and sell products in various categories with creative methods and pitching phrases.

The streamers will also help farmers and villagers to sell their products, and support the revival of homegrown brands.

According to Jiang Fan, chief director of the show, it will be an inspiring program about female courage to make changes in everyday life. They will face many challenges on the show and explore their untapped potential.

During the running of the show, Alibaba’s e-commerce platform Taobao will promote and sell the products which are recognized by the celebrity streamers.

Deng Yifei, an official from Alibaba, said all the celebrity contestants in the show will have to display their all-round abilities such as good taste and communication skills to boost their sales.
