5 new imported cases reported in the city

Five more imported cases of coronavirus were reported in the city on Sunday, bringing the total number of such infections to 197, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Monday morning.

All the patients are Chinese — three working in Russia, one working in the US and one studying in the UK.

They have been transferred to the designated hospital and their 29 close contacts on the planes have been tracked and put under quarantine and observation.

Meanwhile, 26 imported cases — 15 from the UK, three from France, four from the US, two from Italy, one from Malaysia and one from Iran — were discharged from hospital upon recovery on Sunday.

So far of all the197 imported cases, 55 have been discharged upon recovery and 142 are hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Another 14 suspected imported cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted cases or suspected cases were reported on Sunday. One local patient, who had connected with an imported case, was discharged upon recovery.

Among the 339 local cases, 328 have been discharged upon recovery and five are hospitalized, all in critical condition. There have been six local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation right now, the health commission said.
