3 imported coronavirus cases reported in the city

Three more imported cases of novel coronavirus were reported in the city on Thursday, bringing the total number of such infections to 216, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Friday morning.

One patient is Brazilian, who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on March 25 and was put under quarantine upon arrival. Another two patients are both Chinese, one studying in the US and the other working in Russia. 

The three patients have been transferred to the designated hospital and their 16 close contacts on the planes have been tracked and put under quarantine and medical observation.

Meanwhile, five imported cases — three from France, one from Spain and one from the US — were discharged from hospital upon recovery on Thursday. 

So far, of all the 216 imported cases, 94 have been discharged upon recovery and 122 are hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Another five suspected imported cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted cases or suspected cases were reported on Thursday.

Among the 339 local cases, 328 have been discharged upon recovery and four are hospitalized, two are seriously sick and two in critical condition. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation right now, the health commission said.
