Qingpu to hold 2-month shopping festival

Qingpu District is to host a two-month shopping festival and promotional activities online and offline to boost consumption, district authorities announced on Monday.

Three shopping bus routes will operate in the district in May and June, connection shopping malls such as Bailian Outlet, JSWB Global Home Furnishings Center, UMAX Qingpu outlet and Wuyue Plaza, and tourist attractions that include Fenhu Lake, Jinze ancient town and Zhujiajiao water town.

Sixty-five events will be staged from Tuesday to June 30, including a cosmetics festival, fruit picking, food tasting, diamond group purchase festival, home appliances and automobile promotional activities, a wine festival, imported commodity festival, and agriculture products promotions, the district's commission of commerce said.

"The shopping festival and promotional activities aim to spur consumption, provide discount prices to consumers and promote business development," said Tan Wei, director of the commission. "It is a big consumption and festive event and shopping carnival and will run through the second quarter including holidays such as May Day and Dragon Boat Festival."

Wanda Mall Qingpu outlet, UMAX Qingpu outlet, Qingpu Baolong Plaza, and Bailian Outlet will distribute coupons and host lucky draws.

Night tours will be organized at Zhujiajiao water town and Xiadu town as well as the district's bookstores, Pucang Road night market and parks along the district’s rivers.

Theme tour routes in the district centering on spring outings, flower appreciation, ancient towns, the countryside and vegetable and fruit picking with be released, the Qingpu District Culture and Tourism Administration said.

Activities will also include a kite and camping festival and intangible cultural heritage display of Jiangnan water towns at Oriental Green Land, a camping festival at Taiyangdao resort, and an orienteering competition at commercial circles in the district, the administration said.

The Baihe strawberry festival and Zhujiajiao Jiaoli culture festival are also among the events.
