A 3D light show was held at Wulin Square in Xiacheng District, Hangzhou, on New Year’s Eve, drawing hordes of visitors.

Hangzhou's annual New Year's Eve celebration was held at Wulin Square in Xiacheng District, offering a three-hour cultural feast composed of fantastic light shows and cultural performances.

The countdown to New Year’s Day highlighted a brand-new 3D light show, much different from that of previous years. This year, the light show expressed people’s pursuit of a better life with the power of modern technology.

The seven-minute light show projected on the exterior wall of Zhejiang Museum at the square comprised three parts featuring both traditional and modern cultural elements such as printing skills, facial makeup in Peking Opera, video games Pac-Man and the Battle City.

The spectacle made for a better viewing because this year the image resolution and the brightness of the projection was greatly improved thanks to the old projector being replaced with the new NEC laser projector which offers 4K and 4D imaging.

This year, Xiacheng District will improve the environment of Wulin commercial area by adding new pedestrian crossings on the south of the square and widening the sidewalks on both sides of Yan’an Road N.

In addition, the district will add new micro art museums and high-tech experiencing facilities to build a multi-functional leisure and entertainment community and enrich residents’ cultural experiences.
