Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez is in stable condition and recovering after testing positive for COVID-19 on June 16, his doctors said on Wednesday.

"A radiological examination revealed an increase in lung infiltrates and a decrease in oxygen saturation, as well as an increase in inflammatory markers," his doctors noted in a medical report.

He is to remain hospitalized for observation, they said.

The medical experts at the Military Hospital, where he is receiving treatment, noted the president has no fever and is in good general condition.

Honduras has reported 13,943 COVID-19 cases, 405 deaths as well as 1,461 recoveries from the disease.
