Some 790 wet markets, 4,000 construction sites, 6,800 public toilets, 13,000 residential complexes and 245,000 streetside stores have undergone cleaning, pest control and disinfection under a monthlong campaign to improve the overall hygiene of Shanghai amid the novel coronavirus epidemic, local health authorities said on Friday.

In addition to cleaning the environment, the Shanghai Health Commission has teamed up with district governments to promote changes of people’s eating habit, as diners are now encouraged to use one set of chopsticks to take food from communal dishes and another set to eat with.

Over 25,000 local restaurants have adopted this format, said the commission.
