5 new imported coronavirus cases reported in the city

Five new imported coronavirus cases were reported in the city on Friday, while two imported patients from Russia were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Saturday morning.

Among the newly diagnosed patients, four are Chinese cruise employees who left Japan on May 13 and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport the same day. The other case is a Chinese who had traveled in the United Arab Emirates.

All the patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment and 99 close contacts on the same plane with them have been tracked down and put under quarantine and observation.

So far, of all the 326 imported cases, 308 have been discharged upon recovery and 18 are still hospitalized, including one in critical condition and one in serious condition.

Another three imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Friday.

Of all the 339 local cases, 332 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
