A team was sent Friday to oversee the probe into a knife attack at a local primary school in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The team, sent by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Security, will also guide local efforts to treat the 39 injured who include two faculty members.

The MOE has sought thorough screening of safety hazards on and around school campuses to prevent similar cases.

Two of the injured are in a serious condition after the knife attack by a security guard of the primary school in Cangwu County, Wuzhou City, on Thursday morning. Police are investigating the case.
