Eiffel Tower in Paris was evacuated as a precaution after a call made to the police claiming that a bomb had been placed, reported BFM TV on Wednesday.

The surroundings of the tower were closed to traffic and cordoned off by the police, showed the TV footage.

The iconic landmark in the French capital reopened its door to the public on June 25 after nearly two months of closure during the anti-coronavirus lockdown.

As one of the most visited monuments in France, it received about 7 million visitors per year, mostly foreigners.
