A cardiovascular disease hospital in the city conducted a livestream of checks on hospital patients to raise public awareness of disease prevention and control and to benefit grassroots doctors.

The livestream was broadcast from the Shanghai Yodak Cardio-Thoracic Hospital following National Blood Vessel Health Day and World Hypertension Day earlier this week.

Some 290 million people have cardiovascular disease in China, the top cause of death for Chinese. A large number suffer from high blood pressure and coronary disease.

During the coronavirus pandemic, people with chronic diseases or those with poor immunity are more vulnerable and face greater risks if going out or visiting hospital.

Online consultations have been on the increase during the pandemic and, to meet demand, hospitals are offering them and other health services over the Internet.

Many patients and medical professionals witnessed the livestream with medics from the grassroots saying they had learned precious experience in clinical management and medical knowledge.
