Taking the global lead in pushing green design

More than 1,600 green building projects, covering over 61 million square meters, have been certified as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, so far in China, according to the 2018 Greenbuild China which opened at Shanghai Tower Tuesday.

This included more than 1,300 LEED certified projects spanning over 50 million square meters on the Chinese mainland, Mahesh Ramanujam, president and chief executive officer of the US Green Building Council, told the conference. The council’s LEED is the world’s most widely used green building rating measurement.

Greenbuild is the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green buildings and sustainable environment. The two-day conference, held in China for the second time, has attracted more than 600 participants from around the world.

Outside of the US, China now ranks No.1 in terms of the size of LEED certified green building area.
