Trucks, taxis cause more traffic accidents: police
Trucks trundling around the city streets full of rubble and rocks, construction waste, caused most traffic accidents last year, followed by taxis.
Every 100 taxis caused 42 traffic accidents, while every 100 trucks caused 48, according to the police.
Taxis in the city caused about 17,545 traffic accidents in total in the past year. Public transportation buses ranked second with 6,416.
A taxi on average had 10 traffic offenses, while trucks transporting construction waste had 14. These two kinds of vehicles were far ahead of any others.
The total number of traffic accidents was down 10 percent from the previous year with fewer people killed.
In accidents caused by taxis and public buses, respectively 43 and 39 people were killed. Trucks transporting construction waste took 77 lives in 2,649 accidents.
