CIIE volunteers vow to serve well

Volunteers hold high the CIIE banner.

A festive atmosphere celebrates the coming event.

An international expo welcomes international volunteers.
Over 5,800 volunteers recruited for the coming second China International Import Expo will soon be at their posts.
At a ceremony on Saturday, they took a vow to serve the event as best as they can.
Almost 6,000 volunteers will serve the expo, with about 4,100 working inside the venue.
About 5,000 of them are Chinese students from universities and colleges in Shanghai, and about one in five volunteered at last year's expo, according to the Shanghai Youth League which is in charge of volunteer recruitment for the event.
Working alongside the students from Shanghai will be those recruited from other provinces, foreign students and students from Hong Kong who are studying in Shanghai.
About 80 volunteers will be able to talk to foreign guests who don't speak English or Chinese.
A total of 250 volunteers from the local Red Cross association will also serve at the expo.
Across the city, about 50,000 volunteers will serve visitors during the expo.
The expo will be held from November 5 to 10.
