Small passenger vehicles with non-Shanghai plates or temporary plates will be banned from certain parts of the city’s elevated roads from 7am to 8pm every day from November 4 to 6, Shanghai police announced on Sunday.

The measure is taken for the second China International Import Expo, which will be held from November 5 to 10.

The elevated roads affected in this measure are the part of Yan’an Elevated Road east of the Outer Ring Road, the part of the North-South Elevated Road from Huma Road to Luban Overpass, the Resort Zone Elevated Road from the Middle Ring Road to Xiupu, the parts of the Inner Ring Road except the entrance from Zhongshan Road N-2 to the exit to Jinxiu Road in the inner circle and the entrance from Jinxiu Road to the exit to Huangxing Road in the outer circle, and the entire Yixian Elevated Road, Humin Elevated Road, Middle Ring Road, Huaxia Elevated Road, Luoshan Elevated, Nanpu Bridge and Lupu Bridge.

Yan’an Road E. Tunnel and Beidi Road Tunnel from the Outer Ring Road to the Middle Ring Road will also be affected.

Previously, the government announced that November 4 and 5, which are Monday and Tuesday, will be non-workdays for government workers, but on those two days, the bus-only lane workday rules will still be followed, police said.

On November 9 and 10, which are Saturday and Sunday, the bus-only lanes on Huqingping Highway will function as on workdays.

From November 1 to 10, roads around the venue of the expo, the National Exhibition and Convention Center, will be partly closed to certain vehicles on certain days.

From 6am to 9pm every day from November 4 to 10, motor vehicles with no expo certificate will be banned in the area surrounded by Xiewei Road, Huqingping Highway, Panlong Road, Longlian Road, Laiqing Road and Huaxiang Road. They will also be banned to use the Huaxiang Road entrance to Yinggang Road E. Overpass and Jiamin Elevated Road, the exit to Yinggang Road E. from Jianhong Elevated Road, Yanghong Road entrance to Huaxiang Road Overpass, Huaxiang Road entrance to Songze Elevated Road and Jiamin Elevated Road, Zhuguang Road exit from Songze Elevated and Beiqing Road entrance to Zhuguang Road Tunnel.

Buses for public transportation and taxis will not be affected by the ban.

Also, from November 5 to 10, temporary bus-only lanes will be used on both sides of the part of S26 Expressway from the toll gate to Jiamin Overpass, one side of Huaxiang Road between Songze Avenue and Huqingping Highway, one side of Huaxiang Road between Songze Avenue and Beiqing Highway and one side of Songze Avenue between Panzhen Road and Huaxiang Road.
