Man detained for breaking quarantine rules

A man has been detained for leaving home during home quarantine, Shanghai police said on Sunday.

Wang, 24, arrived in Shanghai by train and signed on a pledge to stay under home quarantine in Yuepu Town, Baoshan District, but neighbors reported him to the police after spotting him leaving home and visiting public places.

Wang, who was caught in his home on Saturday, will be detained for 10 days and fined 500 yuan (US$72), police said.

Also on Saturday, two people were warned by police for leaving home during quarantine. Both were reported by neighbors.

Guo, 53, who lives in a residential complex on Changning Road, was spotted twice leaving home for shopping on Friday, while Han, 47, who lives in Qingpu District, was spotted leaving home on the same day.
