An unemployed Chilean teacher had the idea of, during the pandemic, creating something to fight the crisis that is plaguing the world. Without a salary, Yohana Agurto created the brand ‘Miel Gibson’ during the four months of quarantine and decided to sell organic honey – which she had kept in large quantities – without thinking that the Hollywood actor would care about image rights. Miel is Spanish for honey.

However, representatives of Mel Gibson contacted Agurto and gave her 48 hours to stop using the image. The teacher chose an image taken from “Braveheart”, one of the most acclaimed films of the actor’s career.

"I received an email warning that I should stop using the image or a similar one with a direct relationship or similar to actor Mel Gibson," Agurto told the Chilean press.

The solution found by the Chilean was to use social networks.

To the happiness of the entrepreneur and the more than 15 thousand followers who demonstrated support on the Internet, an agreement was concluded with the actor.

The lawyer of the Hollywood star, Leigh Brecheen, said that the actor does not want Agurto to withdraw the honey from the market.

"None of this is intended to prevent anyone from making money or starting a business," the legal representative reiterated in a statement.

Agurto will have to change the image, but will be able to use the name 'Miel Gibson.' "The name and the slogan 'A honey for brave hearts' remain. I thought Goliath was coming, but I ended up being Goliath after all," said the brand's creator, visibly pleased.

The good news for the Chilean is that orders keep coming and the demand for honey has multiplied 300 times the turnover.

Now the teacher has to make a decision: to return to teaching or embrace the project, because she has already started to have international orders.
