Love on the run at Yandang Mountain

Isaiah Ndunju Gichohi from Kenya wins the men’s half marathon.
The 2018 Yueqing Yandang Mountain Love Marathon was held at Yandang Mountain in neighboring Zhejiang Province’s Yueqing City at the weekend.
Taking part were 2,000 runners – 800 in a half marathon, 600 in a 10km love run and 600 in the family run. Isaiah Ndunju Gichohi from Kenya won the men’s half marathon in 1:12:43, while the women’s title went to his compatriot Muriuki Naomi Wamrui in 1:22:54.
To highlight the “love” theme, the event invited race walker Olympic champion Wang Liping and her husband Zou Menghui as guest runners. Wang won the 20-kilometer walk during the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
Jointly organized by the Chinese Athletic Association, the Zhejiang Province Marathon and Running Association and the Yueqing City government, the event combined sports with tourism, as the race route covered major tourism spots in the Yandang Mountain which is known for its love-themed folklore.
