Several tourists have been blacklisted from a scenic spot in northwest China after throwing stones at a giant panda to get its attention, thepaper.cn reported on Monday.

The panda was resting under a tree in its enclosure at Foping Panda Valley in Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province, on July 20.

To make it move and have a closer look, several tourists from a tour group picked up some stones and threw them at the panda.

Staff on scene tried to stop their behavior, but they refused to listen.

They were eventually asked to leave and have been blacklisted from the tourist spot.

A video circulated online shows one of the tourists, a male, hurling rocks at the panda, sparking fury among Chinese netizens.

"That's not enough — they should be blacklisted from all tourist spots nationwide," a netizen commented.

A staffer said the offenders came from Xi'an, also in Shaanxi, while the panda, a male aged 7, wasn't injured in the incident.
