'Roly-poly girl' turns heads

A young performer in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, has become an online star known as "roly-poly girl" thanks to her elegant costume and gyrating moves, Knews reported.

Dressed in traditional Chinese costume and rotating on a giant base, Feng Jiachen, the girl in question, has worked hard to perfect her role.

To perform the roly-poly, she must keep her weight under 50 kilograms. At the beginning, she often suffered bruises which required a refitting of her spiraling costume.

The humble Feng said she feels surprised to become an online star and is grateful for people's appreciation.

"I will keep working hard and learning relevant knowledge, hoping that I can make my own contribution to promoting traditional Chinese culture," she said.
