Jing’an District and Shanghai Media Group are joining hands to set up a film and television production base in the city.

The Haishijie Jing’an Pearl TV Studio will be located near the Middle Ring Road and take up an area of 300,000 square meters that will include film and television studios, production centers, workshops for industry experts, as well as apartments and hotels.

Construction will begin in the middle of 2019 and completed by 2022.

The studio will collaborate with Shanghai Media Group’s video production affiliates as well as other strategic partners to produce influential film and television works.

Wang Jianjun, chairwoman of Shanghai Media Group, said that the new production house will boast high-quality production teams to incubate and develop projects of high artistic merits with market potential.

They will offer complete post-production facilities and relevant services to other companies.

Jing’an has been grooming the district as a base for culture and creative industry — one of the district’s five pillar industries.
