Chinese equities on the rise

China's main equity indexes mark an end to four consecutive days of slumps with slight rises on Monday led by the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery sectors.

China’s main equity indexes rose slightly on Monday, marking the end of four consecutive days of slumps.

At the close, the Shanghai Composite Index had risen 0.05 percent to end at 2,939.62 points while the Shenzhen Component Index advanced 0.21 percent to 9,553.57 points and the blue chip CSI300 index gained 0.30 percent to 3,880.84 points.

Turnover on the two major bourses totaled 370 billion yuan (US$52.3 billion).

Most sectors posted declines, while the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery sectors performed strongly to lead the gains. Shares in Hunan New Wellful Co Ltd hit the daily cap.

Most individual shares lost with 1,442 advancing and 2, 067 declining, while 37 shares hit the daily cap and 36 slumped by the daily cap.

On the new STAR Market, only five companies posted gains. Hillstone Networks led the gains. Beijing ABT Networks Co Ltd suffered biggest losses.
