A special institution was established on Friday at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics to study international development cooperation issues and cultivate professionals.

The institution, International Development Cooperation Academy, will try to enhance research on theories and policies of international development cooperation and serve as a platform for exchanges and cultivation of high-end talents in the area.

Key research topics will include international aid systems, relations between aid and investment, financing systems for international development and production capacity cooperation in the Belt and Road region, etc.

The establishment of the institution meets the needs of China’s work on international development cooperation in the new era with China’s further opening-up strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative, said Zhu Guohong, president of the university.

A forum was also held after the unveiling ceremony of the new institution on Friday, with experts from various universities around China, the World Bank, UNDP and other organizations sharing their ideas.
