A team from Cameroon won the final of the 2019 China (Shanghai) International Youth Football Invitational on Sunday.

Sixteen school football teams, representing seven countries, took part in the weeklong tournament held at multiple arenas around Shanghai. After several days of preliminaries, teams from China, France, Belgium and Cameroon advanced to the weekend’s semifinals. Cameroon’s Fametal Ouragan FC faced off against Belgium’s KV Oostende FC in the championship match on Sunday evening, emerging as victors with a final score of 6-3.

At the closing ceremony, organizers screened highlights of the week before distributing prizes and awards to the top teams.

The tournament, sponsored by the Shanghai government, education and sports authorities and others, aims to promote cultural exchange and international friendship. In between matches, tournament organizers held cultural activities, such as a tea ceremony and a tai chi class, to help visiting teams experience traditional Chinese culture. They also visited famous tourist spots, such as Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Great World amusement center and Shanghai Tower.

Organizers also held a forum to discuss the development of campus football and a photography competition for spectators.
