The brilliant sunshine will leave us for a while on Tuesday but soon come back with extra warmth.

The highest temperature is expected to rise above 20 degrees Celsius from the middle of this week.

According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, there will be little cold air in the city this week and skies will be mainly sunny or cloudy.

But on Tuesday,  clouds cover will increase and produce some rain, mainly in southern areas of the city.

It will be a mix of sun and clouds between Wednesday and Friday. Showers will fall late on Saturday but Sunday will be dry.

Despite a cooler Monday and Tuesday with highs dropping to 15 to 17 degrees  Celsius, the highest temperature for the remainder of the week will stay above 20 degrees with lows above 10 degrees.

The mercury will range between 12 and 21 degrees from Wednesday to Sunday.

The fourth solar term chunfen, the spring equinox, falls on Friday.

During this solar term, the temperature will go up quickly with more precipitation, especially south of the Yangtze River.
