2 more imported cases of coronavirus reported in Shanghai

Two imported coronavirus cases were reported in Shanghai on Sunday night, when nine suspected cases were ruled out, said the Shanghai Health Commission.

One of newly diagnosed cases is an Italian, who left Amsterdam on March 10 and arrived at the Pudong International Airport the next day via Paris. The person was put under quarantine upon arrival.

The other new case is a Shanghai native, who lived in UK. The person left London on March 12 and arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and was put under quarantine upon arrival. 

So far, the city has reported 355 cases. Among all confirmed patients, aged between 7 months and 88 years old, 145 have traveled or lived in Hubei Province, 34 have traveled or lived in other Chinese cities, 159 had contact history with infected persons, four have lived in Iran, nine in Italy, one in the US, one in France, one in Spain and one in UK, according to the commission.

A total of 111 patients are from other Chinese cities, 17 are from overseas and 227 are local residents, referring to those with registered residency and people staying in the city for over six months.

According to the health commission, there are 28 patients being treated at hospitals. Among them, 19 are stable, one is serious and eight are critical. A total of 324 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

There have been three local fatalities so far.

Another 46 suspected cases, including 38 from overseas, are undergoing tests, the commission said.
