Shanghai police chief under investigation

Gong Dao'an.
Gong Dao'an, 55, vice mayor and police chief of Shanghai, is under investigation by the disciplinary watchdog of the Party and the state supervisory committee.
Gong is suspected of committing "serious violations of discipline and the law," according to a statement issued by the authorities.
Gong became director of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau in June 2017 and a vice mayor of the city in January 2018.
He previously worked as director of the public security bureau in Xianning in Hubei Province, and as an official in the Ministry of Public Security.
Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang moderated a meeting of the standing committee of the Shanghai CPC on the decision of the Party’s central committee in Gong’s case.
According to a communication released after the meeting, it was said that the decision well reflected the central committee’s staunch resolution to sustain a strict disciplinary routine within the Party and to never back down in the fight against corruption.
The meeting called for a fortification of the “overwhelming victory” against corruption by keeping a high hand on corruption with zero tolerance and “no forbidden zone.”
