A cold front will sweep across most of northern China in the next three days, bringing falling temperatures and strong wind, the national observatory said Sunday.

Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Gansu and other northern regions will see temperatures drop by six to 10 degrees Celsius starting Sunday, with some areas to cool by up to 12 degrees.

The chilly weather will be accompanied by strong wind and blowing sand in some places, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.

The NMC also forecast heavy rain for Sichuan and Hainan through Sunday, with rainfall of up to 120 millimeters.

The national observatory said local governments should pay more attention to potential landslides and floods in rain-battered areas.
