Police catch suspect in fatal stabbing

The suspect in a knife attack that left one person dead and eight others injured in Dongguan in south China's Guangdong Province has been caught, police announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The incident happened around 7:40pm on January 14 at the Huaide Community in Humen Town, according to the statement.

The eight people injured, including two with serious injuries, are being treated in hospital.

Police said they soon tracked down the suspect, a man surnamed Qin.

A preliminary investigation has ruled out the possibility of a terror attack.

Further investigations are continuing.
