Chinese mainland reports 3 imported COVID-19 cases, no new domestically transmitted cases

Chinese health authority said Tuesday that no new domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland Monday.

Three imported cases were reported, including two in Guangdong Province and one in Sichuan Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

No deaths or suspected cases related to the disease were reported Monday, said the commission.

On Monday, 10 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery.

As of Monday, the overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 83,043, including 58 patients who were still being treated, with no one in severe condition.

Altogether 78,351 people had been discharged after recovery and 4,634 people had died of the disease, the commission said.

By Monday, the mainland had reported a total of 1,783 imported cases. Of the cases, 1,726 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 57 remained hospitalized, with no one in severe condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

The commission said there was still one case, from overseas, suspected of being infected with the virus by Monday.

According to the commission, 2,971 close contacts were still under medical observation after 396 people were discharged from medical observation Monday.

Also on Monday, 21 new asymptomatic cases, including two from overseas, were reported on the mainland. One case, imported from abroad, was re-categorized as a confirmed case. A total of 47 asymptomatic cases, including two from overseas, were discharged from medical observation.

The commission said 174 asymptomatic cases, including 43 from overseas, were still under medical observation.

By Monday, 1,107 confirmed cases including four deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 45 confirmed cases in the Macau SAR, and 443 in Taiwan including seven deaths.

A total of 1,049 patients in the Hong Kong SAR, 45 in the Macau SAR, and 430 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
