Eleven Chinese tourists and two crew members were injured after a speedboat collided with an oil barge near Thailand’s southern Phuket island on Saturday afternoon, the Chinese Consulate-General in the southern province of Songkhla confirmed yesterday.

The 11 tourists are members of two families from east China’s Hangzhou.

Six have already left hospital while the remaining five are still being treated.

The speedboat was on the way back from a day trip to Koh Phi Phi island when it hit the oil barge about 2:50pm local time.
