Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne announced on Thursday that he is in self-isolation awaiting his test results for COVID-19.

In his tweet, Champagne said he got tested "out of an abundance of caution as I began experiencing new flu-like symptom less than 14 days after returning from abroad."

Champagne is the third federal cabinet minister to report being tested, two of his colleagues' test results have come back negative.

Canadian Natural Resource Minister Seamus O'Regan and Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion Mary Ng both tested negative for the COVID-19 last week.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been under self-isolation after his wife Sophie tested positive for the COVID-19 last week after returning from Britain.
