Strangers help collect 193,000 yuan in missing cash
Passers-by in Pizhou City of Jiangsu Province helped collect 193,000 yuan (US$30,342) in missing cash and returned it to its owner in about 50 minutes, according to Xinhua news agency.
A woman, surnamed Liu, was carrying piles of cash to make a bank deposit on February 19. At some point on her journey, the cash, wrapped in a black plastic bag, fell from her scooter. Liu didn't realize and kept on riding.
She reported the situation to police as soon as she realized the cash had vanished.
Meanwhile, several passers-by helped collect the missing cash and handed it in to the local police without disclosing their names.
Liu picked up the full amount — not a penny less — at the police station around 1pm.
She said the incident made her extremely proud of her fellow residents.
