A husky being carried on a scooter suddenly darted across a street in Huaian City of east China's Jiangsu Province, before running into another scooter and knocking its rider and a young boy off, people.com.cn reported on Monday.

The scooter rider, surnamed Ma, who was carrying his grandson on the back seat on May 30, suffered multiple rib and clavicle fractures. His grandson appears to not have sustained any major injuries.

The dog's owner, surnamed Zhu, was ordered to pay one-off compensation of 33,200 yuan (US$5,172) to Ma, according to local traffic police.

As street security footage showed, the unleashed husky ran straight into the path of the scooter as it bolted at high speed across the crossroad. Both Ma and his grandson fell to the ground.

The dog continued running while Ma lay on the road, unable to stand due to his injuries. Local police found the dog and its owner after investigation.
