An 18-year-old food courier in central China became the latest Internet sensation after he helped an elderly woman cross a flooded road on June 25.

A sudden downpour hit Puyang City, Henan Province that noon, causing flooding in some areas, Knews reported.

A food courier, Zhang Yaopu, discovered a granny trying to pass through a flooded road when he was delivering food by foot.

Though he was already late for two orders, he still chose to hold the hand of the woman and help her cross first.

"The water was deep and the woman was a little short," Zhang explained. "I was worried she may fall in the water and be unable to stand up again so I rushed to help."

Luckily, his customers expressed their understanding when he arrived late.

Zhang, who is a local student and just participated in this year's national college entrance exam, has worked as a food courier for just 10 days.

His heart-warming act helped him win numerous "thumbs up" from Chinese netizens who said he's a great model for the young generation.
